It is estimated that most U.S. cities have dedicated up to half of their land to car-based infrastructure and adjacent uses; along with the nation's extensive 4.17 million miles of highways spanning the country. Spaces lost in the promise of freedom while only offering a single use. These spaces become inhuman vacuums in our world. Plots and strips of land as far as the eye can see that were built for only cars. With this photographic series I am challenging and highlighting the swaths of our world we have dedicated to our dependence on the automobile. This body of work contrasts the inherently inhuman nature of these spaces with the human form. people illuminated by harsh lighting and surrounded by an all-encompassing void.
